After a long break, I returned to traveling and started with trip to my Paris. It was a special trip because it was my birthday and my first solo trip. At the beginning I was a little worried about whether I could handle it alone, but there was no other option now, as the plane tickets were booked and accommodations were paid for! I had no plan of what I want to see or where to go. I opted for complete spontaneity, but I was certain of one thing: I wanted to get everywhere on foot. I believe this is the best way to explore because it allows us to better experience the city and it’s life.
On my first day I went for a long walk towards Montmartre and the Sacre Couer. And why there? Because it’s my favorite place in Paris. Montmartre is an artistic district, nestled on a hill with an incredible and unique Parisian atmosphere. Since my first trip to Paris (in 2012), the basilica has always captivated me with itβs architecture and interior. The steps leading up to it are a place to stop and sit, reflect, and admire the view of all of Paris. Montmartre is also the best place for dinner. I like to return to the same places, and I also have a favorite restaurant there, where I always order onion soup and, of course, a glass of white wine.
The next day, I visited the Coco Chanel Boutique β must-see on any trip to Paris. Inside, I met a lovely lady who, after hearing my story about the place and that it was my birthday trip, gave me a gift of cosmetics samples packaged in a unique bag with a white camellia flower. I was both delighted and touched! So with Chanel bag in hand, I set off for a stroll through the wealthiest district of Paris.
Another day and another long walk, this time along the Seine River, through Place de la Concorde, to the Eiffel Tower. The weather was great every day, so it was a pleasure to walk and admire the charming city of Paris. On my last day, I decided to leave the hotel and walk ahead, unsure of where I would end up. That’s how I arrived at the Moulin Rouge. My dream of seeing this dance spectacle live remains unfulfilled. I’ll save that for my next visit in Paris.
